An introduction to SEO and PPC marketing strategies

If you are wondering what you need to do to get your website on to the first page of Google, this is the term called search engine optimisation or SEO for short. There actually are two ways to get on to page one and they should both be part of your business plan and online marketing strategy.

Each way has a different approach, costs and timeframe. One way is through SEO and that requires, competition analysis, keyword research, page optimisation, regularly adding new website content, a back-link strategy and time. Getting your website on page one of Google isn’t possible without addressing these items, and sticking to a plan.

The second way to get to page one on google is through the Google Adwords. This is where you can have your ad displayed at the top or down the side of a given search term and you can pay per click (PPC). For example when you type “real estate” into the google search box, to the right of the search results you will see several ads. Companies set a budget to spend per day on clicks. Once your daily budget is hit, your ads are no longer displayed.

Adwords works because this is where Google make billions of dollars per quarter. Small businesses have become mega empires form using Adwords. There is no other offline advertising medium available that can provide immediate success, brand awareness and detailed return on investment tracking through analytics.

Pay per click  is the fastest way to get your website onto page one of Google and you will get immediate results. SEO is a very important strategy to implement into your marketing plan but no one cannot guarantee a page one result in the short term. With a great SEO strategy put in place today it can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months to achieve a page one result. This is why PPC works. It is fast, measurable and easy to get immediate results.
